The Peel Health Campus Foundation's major raffle
for the year is drawing to a close.
The major prize of a Fiesta from Lane Ford will be drawn on December
15. Volunteers have been busy selling tickets at various locations
around Mandurah.
Foundation Cheif executive Tony Solin praised the volunteers
and all ticket buyers for their generosity over the past 2 months.
"But we still have 5000 tickets to sell in the next 3 weeks to
meet our budget" he said.
"If there are any groups or individuals that could help us sell
these tickets over the next 3 weeks, it would be greatly appreciated"
he said.
All proceeds will go to the foundation's first project, the establishment
of a children's ward at the local hospital.

| In the spirit: Mayor Paddie Creevey spays the Mandurah water rescue group's new vessel. |
Mandurah Water Rescue Group's new vessel was officially commissioned and blessed at a ceremony at the group's headquarters last week.
The vessel, named The Spirit of Mandurah, was purchased with funds raised by the group, with contributions from Fire and Emergency Services and the City of Mandurah.
Being the biggest and longest-serving marine rescue group in WA, it was the tragic estuary drowning of two nuns and a priest, that led to the group's formation in 1961.
Along with the growth of Mandurah, the group has grown to the point where it has performed more than 200 rescues since last July.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mayor Paddi Creevey said the rescue group epitomised the spirit of Mandurah.
"Volunteers provide such a necessary service, so those who want to enjoy our waterways, can do so knowing there is that support," she said.
The 13 metre vessel, capable of speeds up to 33 Knots, was blessed by Father Brian Morrison.

| New Wheels: Ron Brodie receives the keys to his new car from RAC branch meneger Jason Pratten and Roy Lane from Lane Ford |
Mandurah Mail

The simple process of renewing his RAC Membership saw Mandurah man Ron Brodie drive off in a brand new car last week.
The RAC ran a 12 month promotion ending in January with the major prize being a new Ford Fiesta.
Mr Brodie of Mandurah was the lucky recipient drawn out of 48,000 entrants to win the fifth of six cars valued at over $16,000.
"I opened the letter with out even looking at the envelope and read the first line which said 'Congratulations' andI thought it must be an advert for something," Mr Brodie said.
"It wasn't until I read on a bit that I realised I had won a car. My wife was trying to read over my shoulder and I was saying 'It’s my letter, your not reading it' as she wondered what my excitement was about." "I was very surprised," 82 year old Mr Brodie said. "I have never won anything before in my life. The new car is wonderful."
Mr Brodie, a Mandurah resident for 20 years, said he hadn't purchased a car since his last Ford vehicle in the 1960s which would now be a present for one of his 12 grandchildren.
RAC Mandurah branch manager Jason Pratten said it was fitting the prize should go to someone who had a long-term relationship with the organisation.
"The idea of the competition was to promote the benefits of staying with the RAC when your membership is up for renewal, so it was great to see the prize go to one of the RAC's long-term members."
