MELBOURNE, Australia, 13 September 2020 – The Adventure Ready Ford Ranger 4x4 XLT Double Cab Chassis will join Ford’s line-up from December 2020 to give Australian customers greater choice and personalisation for their ultimate touring 4x4. Based upon the 2020 Drive Dual-Cab of the Year, the new comprehensively equipped Ranger 4x4 XLT Double Cab Chassis gives customers more choice, expanding the overall line-up for Australians and offering an easier way for them to personalise their Ranger from purchase.
“Customers looking for Ranger’s high safety and equipment levels who want to add their own customised canopies or personalised tray set-up can now do so with far more ease,” said Andrew Birkic, President and CEO, Ford Australia and New Zealand. “Owners have told us that they want to save time and money with a ready-to-go, high-spec Ranger Cab Chassis that they can purchase straight off the showroom floor, and the 4x4 XLT Double Cab Chassis is here for these customers, be they tradespeople, adventurers or explorers.”
Reflecting the versatility and multiple roles Ranger plays across Australian households and workplaces, the 4x4 XLT Double Cab Chassis is the most content-rich, feature packed Ranger Cab Chassis offered in Australia to date , with options that include the first pearlescent colour to be offered on Ranger. The fresh Alabaster White paintwork brings a warm, rich finish to the Ranger 4x4 XLT Cab Chassis’ exterior as an alternative to the no-cost option Arctic White, which remains available across the Ranger line-up.
In addition, Ranger 4x4 XLT Double Cab Chassis brings customers the assurance of Ranger’s five-star ANCAP safety rating, with standard equipment including AEB with Pedestrian Detection, SYNC 3[i] with Emergency Assist[ii] as well as FordPass Connect[iii] embedded modem, best-in-class towing, water wading and payload capabilities.
Also included is Ranger’s switchable on-the-fly four-wheel drive system, 17-inch alloy wheels and the comfort of dual-zone climate control. A high-resolution full-colour 8.0-inch touchscreen display works in conjunction with steering-wheel mounted controls for voice-activated features, including access to DAB+ audio features, with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto[iv] smartphone compatibility as standard. It also shows the built-in sat-nav with convenient breadcrumbs feature, enabling an off-road route to be mapped for safe return, or later revisited.
In addition to an extensive range of standard features, including standard tow-bar assembly and wiring, options for Ranger 4x4 XLT Double Cab Chassis include a standard tow-bar tongue and wiring, as well as popular XLT options including leather-accented seating, the convenience of Adaptive Cruse Control with steering-wheel buttons, and black 18-inch alloys wheels for a more distinctive look.
Touring and adventure capability is further enhanced with a choice of potent, robust powertrains for Ranger 4x4 XLT Double Cab Chassis that deliver strong, dependable performance while returning efficiency and low running costs.
With 157kW/500Nm, the latest-generation Bi-Turbo powertrain was first introduced on the Ford Performance Ranger Raptor – 4x4 Australia’s 2019 4x4 of the Year – and is fitted with the specifically tuned, new generation 10-speed automatic. The 10-speed includes a lock-out feature to hold specific gears for ease when towing, giving the Ranger 4x4 XLT Double Cab Chassis a best-in-class towing capacity of 3,500kg[v]. In addition to the highly capable towing, the Bi-Turbo 10-speed combination provides improved fuel efficiency to provide owners even greater depth of capability.
Ranger 4x4 XLT Double Cab Chassis customers can also choose the proven 3.2L, five-cylinder common rail turbodiesel, available in both six-speed manual and six-speed automatic, for a powertrain solution to suit a wide variety of needs and uses.
